CHICAGO — A woman is suing Wal-Mart Stores Inc., citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence for a fall and injuries she claims she experienced two years ago.
Monique Carter filed a complaint on April 13 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Romeoville, Store Number 4531, failed to keep the floor of its store free of foreign substances that could cause an accident.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on April 17, 2015, she sustained physical injuries when she slipped and fell due to chicken grease that leaked out of a container onto the floor. The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart responsible because it allegedly failed to remove the chicken grease from the floor or provide warning signs.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Paul Luka of Mendoza Law P.C. in Chicago.
