Patient says Loyola University over injury from tracheal tube during surgery

Medical malpractice 06

CHICAGO — A patient is suing Loyola University Health System; Loyola University Medical Center d/b/a Loyola Medicine or Loyola Hospital; and Anya Raskin M.D., citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and negligence.

Yasmeen Riazuddin filed a complaint on April 20 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to the plaintiff during a spinal surgery.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she sustained physical injuries as the result of a fractured palate and subsequent surgery to remove bone pieces due to an improperly inserted and removed tracheal instrument. The plaintiff holds Loyola University Health System and Anya Raskin responsible because they allegedly failed to properly insert the instrument in the plaintiff's mouth and throat and caused injury.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for medical, drug and incidental expenses, general damages and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Becky Dahlgren of Dahlgren Legal Services in Lisle.
