Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Paramount of Oak Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center LLC, and a nurse, alleging the facility and its staff didn't take the proper precautions to guard against bedsores with a now-deceased former resident.

Veronica Maldonado, as independent administrator of the estate of Pedro Maldonado, filed a complaint on April 25 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to provide proper medical care to Pedro Maldonado.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Maldonado experienced pain from having developed pressure sores. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the allegedly failed to provide adequate assistance to Maldonado to prevent the development of pressure sores.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Robert F. Geimer and Philip P. Terrazzino of Tomasik Kotin Kasserman LLC in Chicago.
