CHICAGO — The representative of an estate is suing a number of defendants including Bayer AG; Janssen Pharmaceuticals; McNeil-PPC Inc.; Johnson & Johnson; Northwestern Memorial Hospital; and John Glynn D.O., alleging their negligence led to her husband's May 2015 death from taking Xarelto.

Julia Butler, independent executor of the estate of Richard Butler, her spouse, filed a complaint on April 24 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Richard Butler.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Richard Butler sustained serious physical injuries from taking the drug Xarelto. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to inform Richard Butler of the potential negative effects of taking Xarelto.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds $50,000. She is represented by James A. Karamanis of Barney & Karamanis LLP in Chicago.
