CHICAGO — A former correctional facility employee is suing Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart, citing alleged discrimination and violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Keenan Robinson filed a complaint on April 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Dart and the sheriff's office alleging the employer wrongly did not allow plaintiff to return to work after taking a day off in April 2015 for personal reasons.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he experienced discrimination by not being allowed to return to work due to his diabetic condition and race, and their assertion that he had not used FMLA leave correctly in the past.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Jemelle D. Cunningham of Lad Law Group P.C. in Chicago.
