Lake Park Center failed to prevent longtime resident from choking, suit claims

Medical malpractice 05

CHICAGO — The executor of an estate is suing Lake Park Center, Bria Health Services LLC and DA Westmont Inc., a nursing facility, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent a former resident from choking.

Robert Sklodowski Jr., as independent administrator of the estate of Edward Sklodowski, filed a complaint on May 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to provide proper medical care to Edward Sklodowski.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff allege Sklodowski, who was a resident of Lake Park Center for more than 20 years, was severely injured from choking on food. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate supervision to Sklodowski while he ate to prevent him from choking.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Kelly A. Sabo and Kristen N. Koeller of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates in Chicago.
