Suit claims West Suburban Nursing failed to protect resident from falls, choking incidents

Medical malpractice 04

CHICAGO — A woman's family is suing West Suburban Nursing & Rehab Center, Infinity Healthcare Management, and individuals Michael Blisko and Moishe Gubin, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent the woman from choking on food or falling.

Judy Alvarez, as independent administrator of the estate of Laura Alvarez, filed a complaint on May 2 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendants failed to provide proper medical care to Laura Alvarez.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Alvarez was injured from choking on food and for falls during her stay at the nursing home. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision to Alvarez to prevent her from falling or choking on her food.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by Terrence E. Davey of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman in Chicago.
