Man says Progressive Financial misrepresented creditor during debt collection

Law money 10

CHICAGO — A man is suing Progressive Financial Services Inc., a debt collector, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.

Sezar Carrillo filed a complaint on April 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging the debt collector failed to provide accurate information to the plaintiff while attempting to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on March 8, 2017, he received a collection letter from the defendant that contains Chase Bank USA as the original creditor, though the real creditor was Capital One.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by John P. Carlin of Suburban Legal Group P.C. in Schaumburg.
