Renter sues E K & W for carbon monoxide poisoning at Rockford property

CHICAGO — A tenant is suing Darren Kimerly and E K & W Properties LLC, claiming she suffered carbon monoxide poisoining at a rental property the defendants owned in Rockford.

Wendy Ortiz filed a complaint on May 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to keep their premises reasonably safe.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendants responsible failed to warn the plaintiff of the potential of carbon monoxide poisoning within their premises.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Andrew S. Kryder of the Law Office of Andrew S. Kryder LLC in Chicago.
