CHICAGO — A woman is suing Barry F. Anderson, who worked as Chicago Bulls' mascot Benny the Bull, and the Chicago Bulls, alleging that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injury.
Rosa Garcia, who was working at a Chicago Bulls basketball game as a server at the time of the incident, filed a complaint on May 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging that Anderson, in the Benny the Bull costume, injured her while being carried off the court after he suffered an injury.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on May 8, 2015, she sustained physical injuries to her left shoulder. The plaintiff holds Anderson, as Benny the Bull, and the Chicago Bulls responsible because the mascot allegedly placed his hand and weight on plaintiff's left shoulder in order to brace himself while being carried off the court so he would not fall, and plaintiff felt pain and a popping sound in her shoulder as he placed his weight on it.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the minimum amount of this jurisdiction. She is represented by Lucy Vazquez of The Law Offices of Christopher D. Edmonds Ltd. in Westchester.
