CHICAGO — An individual is suing RRCA Accounts Management Inc., a debt collector, alleging the company misrepresented a payment deadline.
Richard Xavier Sotelo filed a complaint on April 27 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging the collection firm misrepresented the deadline of plaintiff's debt.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on March 16, 2017, he sustained damages because the defendant allegedly sent a letter to the plaintiff saying that he was "strongly encouraged" to contact the defendant within 14 days, despite there being a notification on the same letter that he has 30 days to dispute the debt.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, actual damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Daniel M. Spector and David S. Klain of Consumer Law Partners LLC in Chicago.
