CHICAGO — A gynecologist is suing Thomas A. Painter M.D., alleging defamation for statements he made to others regarding a 2006 surgery.

Josh C. Tunca M.D. filed a complaint on May 10 in Cook County Circuit Court against Painter alleging the physician made false statements against the plaintiff regarding his treatment of a patient during a surgery 11 years ago at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Painter damaged his reputation because he allegedly issued statements to Tunca's patient's family and other colleagues that implicated Tunca in making a surgical mistake that led to complications and a follow-up surgery performed by Painter.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant and any further relief this court deems just. He is represented by Chris Cosentino of The Cosentino Law Firm in St. Charles.
