Oak Lawn failed to prevent development of bedsores in former resident

CHICAGO — An administrator is suing Oak Lawn Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center LLC, Infinity Healthcare Management LLC, Infinity Healthcare Management and Consulting LLC, Infinity Healthcare Billing LLC, Infinity Healthcare Management of Oak Lawn Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center, alleging negligence and that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Barbara Thomas, special administrator of the estate of David Thomas, filed a complaint on May 11 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the defendants failed to provide proper medical care to David Thomas.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Oak Lawn Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center responsible because the facility allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision and assistance to him to prevent the development of pressure ulcers in 2015.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz of Hurley, McKenna & Mertz in Chicago.
