CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Valesia Philips M.D.; Midlake Medical Corporation S.C.; and Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, alleging negligence.

Mia Howard, as independent administrator of the estate of Marva Brewster, filed a complaint on May 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to provide proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Brewster sustained serious physical injuries as a result of defendants' care, which contributed to the deterioration of her health. The plaintiff holds Philips, Midlake Medical and Mercy Medical Group responsible because they allegedly failed to recognize and treat Brewster's overall health condition and provide the necessary treatment and failed to notify her of abnormal test results.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the minimum jurisdictional limits of this court plus any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Shawn Kasserman of Tomasik Kotin Kasserman LLC in Chicago.
