Man alleges Cigna wrongfully denied his right to life insurance benefits

CHICAGO — A man is suing Cigna Group Insurance, alleging breach of contract.

Benjamin Weiss filed a complaint on May 2 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against the insurance company alleging it wrongfully denied plaintiff's claim for benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was damaged from being denied benefits left by a man identified as Randy Weiss, who died in September, even though the plaintiff alleges he had been designated as the beneficiary.

The plaintiff seeks past due benefits in the amount of $250,000 plus interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Mark D. DeBofsky of DeBofsky, Sherman & Casciarai P.C. in Chicago.
