North Shore Place allegedly failed to prevent fail, heat-related issues for resident

Medical malpractice 05

CHICAGO — A relative is suing North Shore Place; Senior Lifestyle Management Corporation; and Senior Lifestyle Management LLC, alleging negligence.

Janet Ryan, as independent executor of the estate of Alice Kauss, filed a complaint on May 17 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the nursing facility failed to provide proper care to Kauss.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Kauss suffered a fall and a pelvic fracture while suffering sun stroke after being left unattended in the sun, both of which led to the deterioration of her health. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the facility allegedly failed to provide adequate supervision and assistance to Kauss to address her risk of falling and of developing heat-related injuries.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Kelly A. Sabo and Kristen N. Koeller of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
