CHICAGO — A patient is suing Matthew Ivanovich M.D.; Presence St. Joseph Hospital; Centegra Health & Wellness Network; Pulmonary Critical Care Sleep Medicine Specialists S.C.; and Advocate Health Care, alleging they administered a medicine they should have known she was allergic to.
Geor-gia Swoope filed a complaint on May 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against the defendants alleging they failed to provide proper medical care to the plaintiff when she was admitted for trouble breathing.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was given a medication, Versed, that she was allergic to. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to make sure the plaintiff was not allergic to the medication they gave her, and the plaintiff spent nearly two weeks in a coma in May 2015 because of her reaction to the medication. The complaint claims the plaintiff's medical records showed she was allergic to Versed.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Edward G. Proctor Jr. of Munday & Nathan in Chicago.
