Suit alleges Park Ridge dentist negligent in leaving periodontal disease untreated

Medical malpractice 06

CHICAGO — A family is suing dentist Gerald A. Westphal, alleging he failed to diagnose a patient's mouth disease.

Carol Mavraganis, George Mavraganis and Thomas Mavraganis filed a complaint on May 23 in Cook County Circuit Court against Westphal, who practices dentistry in Park Ridge, alleging he failed to provide proper dental care to the plaintiffs.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege Mavraganis lost her teeth after developing periodontal disease. The plaintiffs hold Westphal responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to diagnose or treat plaintiff's periodontal disease.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. They are represented by Anthony E. Blumberg of Anthony E. Blumberg & Associates LLC in Chicago.
