CHICAGO — A man is suing Waterman Financial Group LLC, which does business both as CFS Mediation and Coastal Financial Services, alleging misrepresentation in debt collection and violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Matthew William Purdy, of Woodbridge, filed a complaint on May 18 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against the defendant alleging the Arizona-based collection agency called the plaintiff several times regarding an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he sustained damages early this year from receiving several collection calls for a debt he does not owe. The plaintiff holds Coastal Financial Services responsible because it allegedly threatened the plaintiff with arrest over the debt.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, punitive damages and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Nathan C. Volheim of Sulaiman Law Group Ltd. in Oak Brook.
