Southpoint liable for negligence and failure to monitor a patient, suit alleges

CHICAGO — A man is suing Southpoint Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC, alleging negligence for failing to prevent infections and skin conditions while he was a patient there.

Maurice McMullen filed a complaint on June 7 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the nursing facility failed to provide proper care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he developed pressure sores and urinary tract infections. The plaintiff holds Southpoint Nursing & Rehabilitation Center responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to treat the plaintiff's skin condition or the infection surrounding plaintiff's pressure sores.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Gregory J. Lamorena of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg L.L.C. in Chicago.
