Cook County man accuses City of Chicago and police officers of violating his civil rights

CHICAGO — A Cook County man is suing the city of Chicago and at least four police officers, citing alleged negligence, tortious interference and violation of civil rights.

Tyrone Scott filed a complaint on June 8 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants initiated criminal charges against the him without probable cause. The defendant officers allegedly kicked down a door of an apartment unit and arrested the plaintiff for allegedly possessing a firearm illegally.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was incarcerated for a crime he allegedly did not commit. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for compensatory damages and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by the Law Office of Nir Basse in Chicago.
