Woman claims Vision Financial implied she could be charged debt collection fee

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Vision Financial Services, a debt collector, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.

Maria Carrillo filed a complaint on May 30 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Vision Financial Services alleging it sent a collection letter to the plaintiff that contained inaccurate information regarding her debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Vision Financial included a $0 "collection fee" charge, implying that in the future, fees might be assessed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by John P. Carlin of Suburban Legal Group LLP in Schaumburg.
