Frequent lawsuit filer accuses Sunbeam Products of patent infringement

CHICAGO — A frequent patent infringement plaintiff is suing Sunbeam Products Inc,, citing alleged patent infringement.

Sportbrain Holdings LLC filed a complaint on May 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleging the defendant manufactured a product that infringes on its patent.

Sportbrain Holdings is a regular patent law litigant, filing 99 suits in Chicago federal court against a range of defendants in 2016 and 2017. Sportbrain currently has more than 30 such lawsuits pending alleging patent infringement in the Northern District of Illinois.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the defendant sold products that infringed at least one claim of the plaintiff's "002 Patent." The allegations revolve around the "nuyu Activity Monitor," which the plaintiff alleges infringes its patent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, interest, treble damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Isaac Rabicoff of Rabicoff Law LLC in Chicago.
