CHICAGO — Two brothers are suing Crain Communications Inc., Keith Crain, Lynne Marek and Michael Arndt for alleged defamation.

Joseph J. Fox and Avi Y. Fox filed a complaint on June 12 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants published an article to defame them.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege they sustained damages to their reputations. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly issuing a false and malicious article to permanently damage their reputations. Some of the allegedly defamatory statements revolve around an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission into the plaintiffs' business and dealings.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for compensatory damages, punitive damages in the amount of $1 million and any further relief this court grants.

They are representing themselves in the litigation.
