Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital sued over elevator accident

CHICAGO — A construction worker is suing Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, Otis Elevator Co. and Imperial Woodworking Co., alleging the parties are liable for injuries he sustained while working at the hospital.

David Eagan filed a complaint on June 19 in Cook County Circuit Court alleging the hospital was negligent because it failed to keep its premises reasonably safe for the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he sustained injuries when a cart that was propelled by the elevator cab struck him. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to warn the plaintiff of the defective nature of the elevator and uneven threshold.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Slavin & Slavin LLC in Chicago.
