CHICAGO — A gym member is suing Planet Fitness Evanston alleging the Illinois company released video surveillance of the plaintiff performing an exercise routine without her consent.
Pearlean Johnson filed a complaint on June 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Planet Fitness Evanston, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent a violation of the plaintiff's privacy.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the company allowed its employee to videotape the plaintiff without her consent.
The plaintiff seeks damages of $5 million, punitive damages, general and special damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants.
The plaintiff is representing herself in the litigation.
