CHICAGO — A couple is suing Rush University Medical Center and doctors Jacob Rotmensch, John Kerchberger and Stacy Suzanne Brown for alleged negligence in cutting a woman's nerves during surgery.

Suzanne and Robert Hartman filed a complaint on June 30 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to provide Suzanne Hartman with proper medical care during a surgical procedure.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Suzanne Hartman sustained permanent nerve damage because the defendants allegedly used an improper retractor blade, piercing Hartman's nerves during surgery.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $100,000 plus court costs. They are represented by Lloyd P. Mullen of Mullen and Associates P.C. in Crown Point, Ind.
