CHICAGO — A woman's family is suing Alexian Brothers Medical Center and doctor Bryan Bertoglio for allegedly performing an errant brain biopsy, leaving her paralyzed.

Valentina Tole, administrator of the estate of Petrika Tole, filed a complaint on July 20 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Tole sustained physical injuries as the result of a brain biopsy conducted on a different location than what she allegedly consented to. The procedure allegedly resulted in the paralysis of one side of the patient's body. The plaintiff alleges the defendants proceeded with multiple biopsy attempts despite allegedly having encountered blood on the first sample.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Marion A. Morawicz Ltd. in Chicago.
