CHICAGO — A former professional football player is suing Riddell and other sports equipment makers, saying they didn't do enough to warn athletes their helmets wouldn't protect them from concussions.

Specific named defendants include BRG Sports LLC f/k/a Easton-Bell Sports LLC; EB Sports Corp.; BRG Sports Holdings Corp. f/k/a RGB Holdings Corp.; BRG Sports Inc.; Riddell Sports Group Inc., Riddell Inc. and All American Sports Corporation.

Charles Ali filed a complaint on July 19 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants manufactured and sold defective helmets.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he sustained serious physical injuries, including sub-concussive brain trauma. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to warn him that their helmet was defective and would not be able to protect them from potential brain injury.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the minimum jurisdiction of this court. He is represented by Ron A. Cohen of Kusper & Raucci, Chartered in Chicago.
