CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Soo Line Railroad Company and Canadian Pacific Railway for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent a former employee from being exposed to toxic materials.

Linda Bilandzic, special administrator of the estate of George R. Thomas, filed a complaint on July 31 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to provide a reasonably safe working environment for Thomas.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Thomas' exposure to toxic materials allegedly caused him to contract lymphocytic leukemia. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to warn Thomas the toxic materials could potentially cause cancer.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by R. Joseph Kramer of Marc J. Bern & Partners LLP in Chicago.
