CHICAGO — A woman is suing Hyatt Corporation for allegedly failing to take security measures to prevent her son from being shot and killed while visiting a Chicago hotel.

Yaffa Williamson, mother of Courtney Taylor and independent administrator of his estate, filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place failed to properly secure its property for guests.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Taylor was shot and killed by an assailant while at the hotel. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate security and for allegedly allowing the assailant to enter its facility.

According to the lawsuit, Taylor was survived by a minor daughter.
