Northwestern Memorial Hospital, doctor allegedly failed to treat abdomen inflammation

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Dr. Abra Fant for alleged negligence and for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Carmen Myerson, independent administrator of the estate of Juan Colon, filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants left Colon's acute peritonitis untreated. Peritonitis is an inflammation of the tissue of the inner wall of the abdomen. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly discharging Colon without treating his condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Kevin W. O'Connor of O'Connor Law Firm, Ltd. in Chicago.
