Illinois Masonic Medical Center, others allegedly failed to timely perform surgery

Medical malpractice 09

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate North Side Health Network and doctors Marcie Stoshak-Chavez, Adia George and Samuel Kingsley for alleged negligence and for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Amalia Montes De Oca filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to provide her son with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges her son suffered acute appendicitis, and the doctors allegedly failed to recognize the urgency of her son's condition and provide him with the necessary treatment. The defendants allegedly waited approximately nine hours to perform the required procedure.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Melanie K. Fairman of Seidman Margulis & Fairman LLP in Chicago.
