Norwood Crossing, others allegedly failed to prevent patient from developing pressure ulcers

Medical malpractice 04

CHICAGO — A woman is suing several healthcare providers for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent her deceased relative, a former nursing home patient, from developing pressure ulcers, leading to the deterioration of his health.

Norwood Crossing and associated corporate entities; and Crystal Pines Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and associated corporate entities are named as defendants in the suit.

Carrie Kornfeind, independent administrator of the estate of Ronald Kornfeind, filed a complaint on Aug. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Ronald Kornfeind developed pressure ulcers after the defendants allegedly failed to adequately supervise him to prevent the ulcers. She accused the nursing home of failing to notify a doctor of Kornfeind's decline in health prior to his death.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Molly L. Condon of Hurley McKenna & Mertz, P.C. in Chicago.
