Doctor accused of misdiagnosing brain condition

CHICAGO — A man is suing Dr. Caleb R. Lippman for alleged negligence and for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Thomas Hoekstra filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant misdiagnosed him with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a condition in which fluid abnormally accumulates in the brain cavity. Hoekstra then allegedly underwent an unnecessary surgical procedure. 

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Timothy P. Rhatigan of Rhatigan Law Offices LLC in Chicago.
