Vela Trading Technologies LLC accused of infringing upon patented financial management software

CHICAGO — A business is suing Vela Trading Technologies LLC for alleged fraud, unfair competition and violation of federal law.

Trading Technologies International Inc. filed a complaint on July 31 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, alleging the defendant uses financial management and trading software that is confusingly similar to ones the plaintiff has allegedly patented.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it sustained damages to its business and reputation. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin and restrain the defendant, pay all profits to the plaintiff, all damages, restitution, deliver up for destruction all infringing materials, court costs and any further relief this court grants. The plaintiff is represented by Thad Chaloemtiarana, Phillip Barengolts and Paul Borovay of Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard & Geraldson LLP in Chicago.
