Northwestern Memorial Hospital accused of failing to properly diagnose descending aorta

CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and doctors James Flaherty, Hyde Russell and Jose Chavez for alleged negligence and for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Cheryl Jessurun, special administrator of the estate of Enes Belligio, filed a complaint on Aug. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Belligio sustained serious physical injuries as a result of a surgical procedure. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly diagnose Belligio's descending aorta and properly insert a trans-catheter aortic replacement valve.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus court costs. She is represented by James E. Coogan of Dwyer & Coogan P.C. in Chicago.
