CHICAGO — A woman is suing Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Dr. David A. Guthman, Northwest Community Hospital, and Northwest Community Medical Group for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Jorie L. Kopacek filed a complaint on Aug. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to provide her with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she experienced pain due to hydronephrosis, a condition in which the kidney swells because it is unable to properly drain urine. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to diagnose and treat her condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by James A. Karamanis of Barney & Karamanis LLP in Chicago.
