City of Chicago, others accused of negligence in car accident during police chase

Car accident 39

CHICAGO — The family of a woman killed in a crash is suing the city of Chicago, an unknown Chicago police officer and the estate of Chicago Police Officer Taylor Clark for alleged negligence.

Chereta Adams, special administrator of the estate of Chequita Adams, filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging an unknown police officer struck the vehicle Chequita Adams allegedly was driving.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Adams sustained fatal injuries on June 27 when the officer, who for unknown reasons was pursuing Clark in an unmarked police van, collided with her vehicle. The plaintiff holds the unknown officer responsible for allegedly chasing and pursuing a vehicle through a residential neighborhood despite allegedly knowing the safety hazards it may cause to other motorists.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the minimum jurisdictional requirements of this court plus court costs. She is represented by James D. Montgomery of Montgomery Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
