Uber driver accused of videotaping passenger without permission, posting video to social media

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Uber and Adam Richards for alleged negligence.

Jessica Patterson filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Richards recorded her while inside his vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges the video allegedly was uploaded to various social media sites. The plaintiff alleges the defendants did not inform her that she was being videotaped and violated her rights by allegedly uploading the video to social media sites.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Jeffrey S. Deutschman of Deutschman & Associates P.C. in Chicago.
