CHICAGO — A woman's family is suing several nursing facilities for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

The Summit of Uptown, Respite Care / Care in the Home Inc., Avantara Park Ridge LLC and Avanti Wellness and Rehabilitation, and related corporate entities, were named as defendants.

Michael Giangrande, independent administrator of the estate of Jacqueline Giangrande, filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Jacqueline Giangrande sustained physical injuries as the result of allegedly not having her blood glucose levels properly monitored by the defendants.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that will adequately compensate him for injuries plus court costs. He is represented by Paul D. Richter and Caitlin K. Finnegan of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
