Chicago Board of Education accused of failing to prevent sexual abuse of students

CHICAGO — An individual is suing the Chicago Board of Education for alleged liability and negligence over sexual abuse by a school employee.

The plaintiff, identified only as John D. Doe, filed a complaint on Sept. 6 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging he sustained emotional damages from being sexually abused by Marvin Lovett, who headed a mentoring program at the elementary school the plaintiff attended. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failed to prevent sexual abuse of its students by Lovett.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 plus court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Lyndsay A. Markley of The Law Office of Lyndsay A. Markley Ltd. in Chicago.
