Brenntag North America Inc., others sued for alleged failure to warn woman of asbestos

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Brenntag North America Inc. and several other companies for alleged liability and negligence.

Kathleen Stepanek filed a complaint on Sept. 6 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants made products that contained talc powder with asbestos.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges she was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma resulting from being exposed to asbestos. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to warn consumers of the potential health risks of being exposed to asbestos.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court plus court costs. She is represented by Michael T. Egan Jr. of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.
