CHICAGO — A woman is suing Rush University Medical Center for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.

Sarah Patterson filed a complaint on Sept. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging she suffered a femoral fracture of her left hip while being transferred from a wheelchair to a bed Sept. 23, 2015. The plaintiff alleges an employee tried to transfer her from her wheelchair to her bed using a mechanical lift even though she allegedly asked the employee to stop.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount sufficient to compensate her for her losses, compensatory damages and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Mark Parts and Faith H. Spencer of Parts & Spencer Ltd. in Chicago.
