Chicago Park District allegedly failed to prevent worker from receiving electrical shock

CHICAGO — A man is suing the Chicago Park District for alleged liability and negligence.

Donny New filed a complaint on Sept. 25 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the park district failed to turn off the underground electrical wires around the area where he was working.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Sept. 24, 2016 he received an electric shock while removing one of the pegs of the tent that had been driven into the ground. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failed to warn him about the live underground wires around the area where he was working.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Rodney C. Bashford of Bashford Law Group P.C. in Glenview.
