John Rainey, special administrator of the estate of Nancy Adkins, filed a complaint on Oct. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendants did not do enough to prevent Adkins from allegedly choking and aspirating, which allegedly contributed to the deterioration of her health.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. He is represented by Michael T. Mertz and Molly L. Condon of Hurley McKenna & Mertz P.C. in Chicago.
