CHICAGO — An insurance company is suing Metropolitan Builders Inc. for $1.8 million over alleged breach of contract, breach of implied warranty and negligence.
AIG Property Casualty Company, as subrogee of 1903 Schiller LLC, filed a complaint on Oct. 13 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant failed to perform the renovation, demolition and construction with a proper permit.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it, as subrogee of 1903 Schiller, LLC, sustained financial damages in 2016 as a result of damages that were allegedly done to its insured property. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly proceeding with the demolition or construction of the property despite allegedly not having a permit from the city of Chicago.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $1.8 million, plus court costs and any further relief this court grants. The defendant is represented by Brad Gordon of Grotefeld, Hoffmann, Schleiter, Gordon, Ochoa & Evinger LLP in Chicago.
