CHICAGO — An estate administrator is suing Berkeley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center LLC, Berkeley Nrsg & Rehab Center and Woodbine Nursing Realty LLC for alleged negligence.
Leslee Smith, special administrator of the estate of Devin Smith, filed a complaint on Oct. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Devin Smith developed an infection, pressure wounds and dysphagia while in the defendants' care. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to adequately supervise and assist Smith to prevent him from getting an infection or prevent his dysphagia from worsening.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Michael T. Mertz of Hurley, McKenna & Mertz P.C. in Chicago.
