Shepp Pest Control Inc. accused of negligence for allegedly causing fire at Little City

CHICAGO — Two businesses are suing Shepp Pest Control Inc. for alleged liability and negligence.

Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company, as subrogee of Little City Foundation, and Little City Foundation filed a complaint on Oct. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant caused a fire to break out at Little City Foundation on Aug. 23, 2016.

The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible for allegedly allowing its employee to improperly push a gas range back against the interior wall and negligently activate it, causing the fire.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court, interest and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by C. Zachary Ransel and Stephen A. Whelan of Whelan Arnold LLC in Downers Grove.
