Loyola University Medical Center sued over woman's death, accused of failing to order ultrasound

CHICAGO — A woman is suing Loyola University Medical Center for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent her relative's injuries and wrongful death.

Kimberly Edwards, independent administrator of the estate of Angela Edwards, filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in Cook County Circuit Court, alleging Angela Edwards suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism after the defendant allegedly failed to order an ultrasound to properly diagnose her condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000. She is represented by Michael P. Cogan and Miguel A. Ruiz of Cogan & Power P.C. in Chicago.
